Landscape Photo Coming Soon
This quilt was made for my niece, Carey, and was over four years in
the making.  It was also the first quilt I had ever entered in a quilt
show.  I was absolutely shocked to find out the quilt had won
Honorable Mention.   The quilt does not really have a front and back
but rather two fronts.  The stars are beautiful because of their
intricate piecing.  The batiks combine into an abstract beauty.
All the blocks are special in their own way,
but these are two of my favorites.

This is the ribbon awarded to
the quilt
The quilt  is named  “Pieces of Me”,  and  was  made  to fit a queen
sized  bed.   There  is  a  matching  bed  skirt  and  pillow   shams.
It  was  machine  quilted  by Penny Allen.

This   quilt   was   completed  in   2007   after  about  a  four year
journey  from  design  to  done.   Most  of  the  blocks are  from  the
“50 Fabulous Paper-Pieced Stars”  by  Carol Doak.    Each   star
represents  a  time,  place,  or  event  in Carey’s   life,   so   it   is
autobiographical.     Some   blocks were  designed  by  Carey.   Some
modified  by me.

I went to the show with some old
friends and one of them captured me
seeing the ribbon for the first time.
the  understatement of the year.
