We almost got it
done in one
weekend, but not
quite. It is a flip
and sew quick quilt.

These first 3 quilts represent something that went very wrong or went totally right without any I
asked her if she would like to spend the weekend with me and we'd make a very simple flip and sew
quilt. She would get to pick out all her fabric. We asked her parents and I told them, they would
have to pay for the fabric and told them about how much it would cost. After Bri's was done, her
sister and brother also wanted one. So a simple little thing just got bigger. All three kids picked out
few things they should consider. I wanted them first to find the one fabric they absolutely loved. I
showed them how to pick colors from that one and told them about themes or collections of things they
showed them how to pick colors from that one and told them about themes or collections of things they
loved. When it came right down to which fabric was selected, they did that all on their own. I
refused to make the choice for them. I told them they were going to be sleeping with it, so they
needed to love their choices. They each put a lot of thought into it and selected fabric in either
colors or topics they love.
I am very proud of the thought and effort they each put into their selections. I also got a kick out of
explaining just how I am related to their father. I wish my other nieces and nephews lived close
enough for me to be able to do the same thing with them. I had a good time with them. It was also
great the next time I went to their home and they proudly showed me how pretty their quilts looked
on their beds. Good memories for sure.

Cole's quilt. We went
fabric shopping and
then took off for the
Desert Museum. I
sewed his quilt and
took it to him later. I
felt he was too young
to spend the weekend
with me, but he picked
out some absolutely
great fabric that he
loves.
Claudi.
I have made and given away
so many things that I
promised myself that I
would start making things
for myself. There is an
African quilt in my future
that I'll make from the
fabric on the first page.
This toilet paper cover was
the first thing I made for
me. It looks very nice in my
newly remodeled bathroom
and is the sort of thing I see
on a daily basis. :)
